Context belongs beside the bottle
A tasting card can be more useful than a long description if it answers the right questions. Who made this wine? Which bottle is it? Why is it in this collection? What comparison might help me understand it? Those answers can help you return to the wine later and explain your preferences to a retailer. A page full of impressive adjectives may tell you much less.
Use the notes after your first impression
Reading a description first can make it tempting to search for its exact words. Try noticing the wine in your own language before comparing with the supplied notes. Agreement is not a test you need to pass. A useful guide opens up questions and offers context; it should not make you feel that there is only one acceptable response to the glass in front of you.
Keep a record that leads somewhere
The planned Society Selections collection includes tasting notes, producer stories, and food-pairing ideas. Their exact format is still being developed. When comparing subscriptions, ask whether guidance stays accessible after the shipment and whether it clearly identifies the actual vintage supplied. Save the label details alongside your own observations. That makes it easier to find a wine again, even if the collection itself changes from one quarter to the next.
Society Selections: the planned collection
Society Selections is being developed at $295 per quarter for four wines, a guided online tasting with a recording, tasting notes, producer stories, and food pairings. It is separate from the $495 quarterly NYC event membership. Final wines, host, licensed seller, shipping charges, taxes, and enrollment terms will be confirmed before orders open. Joining the interest list is free, takes no payment, and does not reserve a collection.
