AT A GLANCE

A recurring interest can give a new city some continuity, without promising an instant social circle.

Start with an interest rather than an introduction

Moving to New York can give you more options than routines. A shared interest is one way to make the city feel more personal. At a wine tasting, there is already something to discuss, so the conversation does not have to begin and end with where you work or how recently you arrived.

The Society is intended for people who appreciate wine and a hosted social setting. You do not have to be new to the city, and joining does not guarantee a particular guest mix. The benefit is the opportunity to participate in a recurring experience.

Be realistic about distance and cadence

A beautiful event can still be impractical if the journey makes attendance difficult. Before subscribing, look at the actual venue, arrival time, and return trip. Neighborhood details are useful in your invitation request, but they do not determine where an event will be held.

Quarterly meetings provide a seasonal touchpoint. If you are building a new social routine from scratch, you may want other more frequent activities alongside it. The Society should be one enjoyable part of your calendar rather than the whole plan.
