Define access before deciding on status
Private membership can mean very different things. Some people want a place to work or dine throughout the week. Others want selected evenings with a focused community. The right model is the one that matches the way you intend to spend your time.
New York Wine Society is being developed around quarterly wine gatherings. It is not advertising a permanent clubhouse, coworking space, reciprocal clubs, restaurant reservations, or everyday hospitality access.
Evaluate the actual social format
A large member network and a hosted table are not interchangeable. A smaller recurring event can create a clear occasion to attend, while a flexible club may require you to initiate more of your own visits. Neither format guarantees who you will meet or how often other members return.
For the Society, the intended center of gravity is the wine tasting itself. The setting, hosting, and shared interest create the occasion. The guest list is not a product, and no access to celebrities, executives, or other named groups is promised.
Make a practical membership comparison
Ask each club about fees, actual access, booking restrictions, cancellations, and the cost of food or events beyond dues. The Society’s planned fee is $495 every three months for one member, with one tasting per quarter as the intended benefit. The founding request lets you consider the confirmed details before committing.
